Currently, CommunityArts is offering tele-therapy for individuals, couples, family and group counseling.  We are now accepting new clients.

I believe in the power of therapy and the healthy change it can make in people.  I am a witness, guide, and most importantly, partner on my clients' journeys.

- Wanda Montemayor

Wanda Montemayor is accepting new clients at her South Austin office on Manchaca between William Cannon and Slaughter.  For more information about individual or group counseling services, please fill out the contact form below to get more information and have Wanda contact you.

Clinical Supervisor Wanda Montemayor is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPCS), a Registered Art Therapist (ATR/BC, ATCS) and most importantly, has been a middle school counselor for 13 years.  In addition to her traditional counseling and therapy (talk therapy) methods, she integrates art therapy for her students at O. Henry Middle School, as well as in community art projects with children throughout her community.  Since joining O Henry, she has directed students in creating six mosaic murals on campus during art therapy groups, summer camps, and after school programs at that campus alone. Also this year, in conjunction with Texas State University and with her therapy dog Chango, Wanda has been certified as a RPTS (Registered Play Therapist / Supervisor), to engage and assist students as a Registered Play Therapist with a specific focus on Animal-Assisted Play Therapy.

Therapy can stir up thoughts and feelings that might be upsetting or unsettling. When people go through therapy, they often learn that change takes a significant investment of time. At any point, clients may experience deterioration in emotional and psychological stability, as they become aware of previously unconscious, emotionally laden material. Please let me know if you need to take a break at any point during a session and/or if you are experiencing any of the above concerns.

Our relationship is professional in nature, so please limit our contact to our arranged sessions and emails/texts for scheduling. Please do not invite me to social gatherings, offer me extravagant gifts, ask me to write a reference for you, or ask me to spend time with you in any other way than the professional context of our counseling sessions.

Some people prefer to seek additional or alternative approaches to personal wellbeing. This might include diet and nutrition, self-help books, expressive activities, acupuncture, yoga and exercise, meditation, medication, spiritual activities, or any number of other practices. Many people find that the greatest benefits come from a combination approach, but it is certainly your right to choose the route that helps you the most.
